Individuals with disabilities face difficulties when it comes to finding meaningful connections and relationships. Traditional methods of dating can be challenging for them, as they may not be accessible or accommodating to their needs. Additionally, people with disabilities may face discrimination or prejudice when using mainstream dating apps, which can make it difficult for them to find compatible partners. Who cares you ask?
We live in a world where we have a dating app for almost everyone except the disabled and the chronically ill community.
A dating app specifically for disabled people could provide a safe and inclusive space where individuals with disabilities can connect with others and form meaningful relationships without fear of discrimination or prejudice.
A very simple and straightforward onboarding process. We want to make sure that the opposite person likes you for who you are. So apart from the basic details, we also ask users about their preferences, interests etc.

Dateability revolutionizes the dating experience for blind individuals with an innovative onboarding process and app design tailored specifically to their needs. Utilizing advanced voiceover technology, the app enables seamless navigation through intuitive voice commands and specialized gestures.
Dateability is a dating application designed specifically for people with disabilities. To get started, we interviewed 40 disabled users across mobility, sensory and cognitive/developmental impairments, to get to know about their dating app frustrations and feature Wishlist. This activity helped us clearly identify the pain points and establish archetypes. Some questions we pondered upon were:
With the collected data and the key insights, we landed on the audience we wished to target for this application. These were people from the disabled and the chronically ill community who are looking for potential partners. With this direction, we developed our persona and user journey.
Seeking a dating app that will help her find a romantic partner who values her as a person beyond her disability. She wants clear and simplified profile fields to share details about her condition. She hopes to find someone who is understanding of her limitations and willing to communicate at a pace she is comfortable with. She wishes to be seen for the thoughtful person she is beyond the stigma of cognitive disabilities.
Alicia Kim is a 29-year-old artist and individual with a mild cognitive disability in Austin seeking a dating app that supports her needs. She has tried mainstream dating apps before which didn’t go well. Here is the user journey for the same.
